I bought this truck new April 25th 1969. I worked for the factory branch in Poughkeesie, NY as a mechanic then. I was nineteen at the time. When I bought the Scout, it was the 1st 304 powered Scout to arrive at a dealer in our area. It came in as a stock unit and I claimed it when the transporter drove into the lot with it. I call it my first vehicle because I only had a piece of junk pickup I had been running for the 2 years since I had recieved my driving license. I have restored it twice so far and I am planning to do it again shortly. I have pampered it for the last ten years or so, only using for recreational use in good weather. It has 429,000 miles on it, and I still consider it the most fun to drive of any vehicle I have owned, and there has been a lot of them. It still has original engine, though rebuilt due to failed cam bearing making timing gears become noisey.
